Organisms tend to live in distinct groups separated over space and time, which we refer to as “populations”. Although mostly separate, individual populations might exchange individuals occasionally. How frequently, how many, and how equally populations exchange individuals - referred to as “connectivity” - has profound impacts on the dynamics of each population, and eventually the surrounding ecosystem.
